On June 15 Korea Telecom and Intel signed a memorandum of understanding to develop technologies for WiBro (Wireless Broadband). Korea Telecom also hopes to use its cooperation with Intel for harmonization of WiBro with the mobile version of WiMax. The Korean Ministry of Information and Communication expects Wibro to be a strong complement to 3G wireless networks and wireless LAN (Local Area Network) connections in Korea, and estimates that there will be 9.5 million WiBro users in 2012.
